Robert Carbonaro, Luthier

Hi, I'm Robert Carbonaro and I've been passionately making guitars for 30 years.
My journey began when I wandered into Master Luthier Rodney Albin's shop in San Francisco.
At his Haight Street shop, Rodney was teaching the Art of flattop guitar making and I was instantly dazzled and in love with the whole process.
A very inspiring mentor, I was hooked.
Later on while living in Boston, I met my next mentor, Viola de Gamba and violin maker Owen Shaw. Owen was a
wonderful teacher who taught the process of carving tops and backs from his violin experience, and it was
here that I made my first archtop - this is before any books on the subject were available.
I went on to establish the Woodstock Guitar Shop in the 80's and enjoyed being a part of the thriving music scene there.
After running a full-time cabinet woodworking and guitar business for many years, I am now dedicated full time to Guitar making.
I bring to my guitars a passion for detail and a true desire to create an instrument that will play beautifully and inspire you.
I look forward to collaborating with you on your dream guitar!
“To continue sending guitars into the world is a blessing that I am very grateful for every day.”
